Moving Advertisement

On my way back home the other day, I saw a fleet of Volkswagen Beetles driving very slowly on the road. They were moving advertisement for the big sale in Centre point. The vehicles were covered all over with plastics with the words "Centre Point" and "Sale".

It was indeed a very interesting concept. However it was also very annoying. The volks were blocking the roads as they drove like snails. And drivers in Dubai were notorious for their impatience and rudeness. Hence loud horning and flashing high beams from the cars behind the volks was a common sight.

Spead camera

The cars on SZR have been driving noticeably slower than usual since last month. It has come to our conclusion that the RTA has recently dialed down the trigger limit by a notch. The speed cameras along SZR used to flash at 120 km/h (Speed limit is 100km/h). The rumour is that now the cameras will set off at 110km/h. And the current speeding ticket costs 500 AED, instead of the usual 200 AED.

We suspect that this is the solution the Dubai government and the RTA have come up with to recoup their loses in the economic downturn.

So to every one, drive safely and drive within the speed limit.

Friend with Wings

Summer is approaching and it is getting hotter and hotter in Dubai. The sun rises up a lot earlier than usual and so does catcat.

There is a little bird who drops by our balcony every morning to visit catcat. Catcat is always very excited. This morning she was trying to stalk her little friend with wings.

Korean Supermarket

A colleague tipped me off about this Korean Supermarket located along the SZR selling Korean/Asian food. I personally love Korean instant noodle and my mum has been sending me packets via airmail since I got here. I treasured every packet as if it was my precious and was practically in tears when I was down to my last pack.

So imagine how excited I was when I saw this.

And catcat was checking it out if there's anything for her.

Organic Supermarket and Cafe

I am not the type of person who is willing to pay premium for organic stuff. But it is still nice to see a supermarket specialises in selling organic products. It is located next to Waitrose supermarket in the Dubai Mall Basement.
